Asteroid framing camera optical performance test

Abstract

We had the opportunity to prepare an asteroid framing camera with a team at the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research in Göttingen. Before the launch of the cameras, we tested the optical properties of the CCD detector and the optical filters. In our paper we explain the tests and present the evaluating algorithms we made for the tests. The results have great effect on the decision whether the project will be executed or not, and it also helps in processing the photos taken by the camera in the future.

Munkánk során a göttingeni Max Planck Institut für Sonnensystemforschung egy kutatócsoportjával egy űrkamera előkészítésében vettünk részt. A kamerák kilövése előtti készületek során optikai tesztekkel vizsgáltuk a CCD detektor és a szűrők optikai tulajdonságait. A dolgozat során bemutatjuk a méréseket, valamint az elkészített kiértékelő algoritmusokat. Az eredményeknek fontos szerepük van a döntésben, hogy a küldetés megvalósul-e, ezen kívül a későbbi képek feldolgozásához is segítséget adnak.
