Development of gel permeation chromatography method of water soluble polymers for enhanced oil recovery

Abstract

Due to the increasingly difficult to satisfy demand for crude oil, the enhanced oil recovery methods are playing an increasingly important role. Polymer and surfactant-polymer flooding can be possible solutions. The water-soluble polymers used for this purpose are giant molecules that exert their effect through their ability to increase dynamic viscosity. This property is closely related to their average molecular weight and applied concentration. A common method for determining the molecular weight of polymers is gel chromatography, however, few and only specific methods have been published for the analysis of polymers also used in oil recovery. In the course of our work, the detectability of partially hydrolyzed polyacrylamide type polymers, was investigated. The molecular weight and molecular weight distribution and the correlation of the results with the concentration of the polymer.

ÖSSZEFOGLALÓ

Az egyre nehezebben kielégíthető kőolaj iránti kereslet miatt egyre nagyobb szerepet kapnak a harmadlagos kő-olaj kitermelési módszerek, amelyekhez tartoznak a polimeres és tenzid-polimeres elárasztások. Az ilyen célra alkalmazott vízoldható polimerek olyan óriásmolekulák, amelyek a dinamikai viszkozitást növelő képességükön keresztül fejtik ki hatásukat. Ezen tulajdonságuk szoros összefüggésben van az átlagos molekulatömegükkel és alkalmazott koncentrációjukkal. A polimerek molekulatömegének meghatározására elterjedt módszer a gélkromatográfiás vizsgálat, azonban a kőolajkitermelésben is alkalmazott polimerek vizsgálatára kevés és csak specifikus módszereket ismertettek. Munkánk során tanulmányozni kívántuk a részlegesen hidrolizált poliakrilamid típusú polimerek kimutathatóságát, a molekulatömeg és molekulatömeg eloszlását és az eredmények összefüggését a polimer koncentrációjával.
