Investigation of the solubility of surfactant mixtures synthesized for petroleum industry application in brine

Abstract

During surfactant-polymer and surfactant flooding, the proper selection of surfactants is crucial for the successful execution of the project. Given the diverse and challenging conditions encountered in enhanced oil recovery, custom surfactant compositions are often preferred over individual surfactants. When choosing the right surfactant composition, the primary concern often revolves around the high salt content of the reservoir water, necessitating the selection of surfactants with salt tolerance. Therefore, the first step in the selection process is to assess the solubility of surfactants. While this criterion is essential for practical application, it can also hinder further investigations.

In our work, we examined the solubility and performance of various custom surfactants in high-salinity formation water. Additionally, we formulated surfactant compositions using these surfactants and co-solvents, further evaluating their properties. Based on our investigations, it was developed surfactant compositions with more favorable characteristics than individual surfactants on their own.

ÖSSZEFOGLALÓ

A tenzid-polimeres és tenzides elárasztás során a projekt sikeres kivitelezéséhez kulcsfontosságú a megfelelő tenzid és/vagy tenzidek kiválasztása. Mivel a harmadlagos kőolajkitermelés során a réteg körülmények változatosak és kihívást jelentenek, ezért sok esetben egyedi tenzidek helyett tenzidkompozíciókat alkalmaznak. A megfelelő tenzidkompozíció kiválasztása esetén a legjelentősebb problémát sok esetben a rétegvíz magas sótartalma jelenti és az ehhez megfelelő sótűrő tenzidek kiválasztása. Ezért a szelekció során elsőként a tenzidek oldhatóságát vizsgálják. Ezen kritérium a felhasználás során elengedhetetlen, de ezen kívül a további vizsgálatokat is ellehetetlenítheti.

Munkánk során megvizsgáltuk különböző egyedi tenzidek oldhatóságát és elvégeztük hatásvizsgálatukat nagysótartalmú rétegvízben. Továbbá ezen tenzidek felhasználásával és oldószer alkalmazásával készült tenzidkompozíciókat fejlesztettünk ki, melyeknek szintén vizsgáltuk ezen tulajdonságait. Az eredmények alapján találtuk olyan tenzidkompozíciókat, melyek kedvezőbb fizikai-kémiai és kolloidkémiai tulajdonságokkal rendelkeznek, mint az egyedi tenzidek önmagukban.
