Abstract

The recycling of construction and demolition waste – crushed concrete and ceramic brick – has become a major sustainability challenge in the construction industry, particularly due to the high environmental impact of concrete and the high ratio of natural aggregates. The aim of this research is to investigate the suitability of these materials as concrete aggregate, with particular attention to the effect of different replacement ratios (25–50–75%) on strength. Based on the results, favourable strength properties can be achieved even with a higher proportion of crushed concrete, and crushed bricks can be used to make lightweight concrete.
