Abstract

Recycling and reusing are becoming increasingly important issues today. We engineers are responsible for our society choosing the most suitable technology. The work we do has a significant impact on the environment and, consequently, the future of our generation and our children. After the economic crisis, designers and engineers have started to think more in terms of ECO—Economic & Ecologic. Comparing soil stabilization by replacing poor soil with better soil or with a gravel layer, the conclusion is:

·         Less execution time

·         Less material transported

·         Less energy consumed

·         Less impact on the environment
