Documentation of the glazed ground floor door of the Lutheran High School’s library in Sopron

Abstract

The residential building at 17 Templom Street in Sopron acquired its current Baroque form in the 1770s. Its first brief description was written by Ernő Mihályi in 1915. Nearly forty years later, Endre Csatkai published the façade, section, and floor plans in his architectural topography, along with an art historical description of the building. Between 2019 and 2024, the attic space of the former residential building was converted into the library of the Lutheran High School. Its twelve original Baroque inside doors were restored, out of which this study presents the survey of the glazed ground floor door.

A Sopron, Templom utca 17. számú lakóház mai, barokk formáját az 1770-es években nyerte el. Első rövid bemutatását Mihályi Ernő írta meg 1915-ben. Közel negyven évvel később Csatkai Endre a ház homlokzatát, metszetét és alaprajzait is közölte műemléki topográfiájában, az épület művészettörténeti ismertetésével együtt. Az egykori lakóházban – a padlástér beépítésével – 2019 és 2024 között az evangélikus gimnázium könyvtárát alakították ki. Tizenkét belső, eredeti barokk nyílászáróját restaurálták, melyek közül jelen tanulmány a földszinti üvegezett ajtó felmérését ismerteti.
