Survey of the ground floor door of the baroque residential building at 11 Templom Street, Sopron

Abstract

The Baroque residential building at 11 Templom Street, Sopron, achieved its current appearance in the mid-18^th century. The first survey of its street facade was conducted by students of the Budapest Royal Hungarian State Higher Building Industry School during the summer break of the 1926-27 academic year. The ground floor entrance door was thoroughly documented by József Attila Jankó, an MSc architecture student at the University of Sopron, during the fall semester of 2024-25. The exterior appearance of the door is more ornate than the interior side, as it could have been part of architectural representation during the Baroque era. Its wrought iron hinge and pull knob are exquisite, unique blacksmith work.

A Sopron, Templom utca 11. számú barokk lakóház a 18. század közepén nyerte el mai megjelenését. Utcai homlokzatának első felmérését a budapesti Magyar Királyi Állami Felső Építő Ipariskola növendékei végezték el az 1926-27 tanév nyári szünidőjében. Földszinti bejárati ajtaját a 2024-25 tanév őszi félévében részletesen dokumentálta a Soproni Egyetem építész MSc hallgatója, Jankó József Attila. A nyílászáró külső megjelenése díszesebb, mint a belső oldala, mivel ez a barokk korban az építészeti reprezentáció része lehetett. Kovácsoltvas pántja és húzógombja igényes egyedi kovácsmunka.
