Abstract

In 1983, research into the use of Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) composites in construction was initiated in Timișoara, marking the beginning of a sustained scientific effort in this emerging field. Over the past 25 years, this research has led to the formation of a new generation of researchers, evidenced by the successful defense of nine doctoral theses and numerous master's dissertations. The structural application of FRP materials has since evolved significantly, culminating in a broad spectrum of academic and practical achievements. Although several decades ago the widespread and successful use of FRP composites in construction would have seemed unlikely, they have now become vital to modern structural engineering practice. This paper provides a concise overview of the principal outcomes obtained at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Politehnica University of Timișoara, over the past two decades.

Néhány évtizeddel ezelőtt senki sem számított arra, hogy a szálerősítésű polimerek (FRP) ilyen széles körben és ilyen sikeresen kerülnek alkalmazásra az építőiparban, mint manapság. A FRP anyagok építőipari célú felhasználásával kapcsolatos kutatások Temesváron 1983-ban kezdődtek. Az elmúlt 25 év során ez a kutatási tevékenység egy új kutatógenerációt nevelt ki, amelynek eredményeként kilenc sikeresen megvédett doktori disszertáció és számos MSc dolgozat született. E cikk célja, hogy röviden összefoglalja az FRP anyagok szerkezeti alkalmazásával kapcsolatban az elmúlt két évtizedben a Temesvári Műszaki Egyetem Építőmérnöki Karán elért legfontosabb kutatási eredményeket.
