The effect of nitriding and multilayer coatings on the tribological behavior of unalloyed and alloyed steels

In our research, we applied low-temperature plasmanitriding and PVD coatings on unalloyed and low-alloy steels. The examined materials were C45 carbon steel and 42CrMo4 steel. The specimens were first plasmanitrided and then coated with two different ceramic PVD coating systems. Tribological tests were conducted using a pin-on-disc tribometer to evaluate wear resistance and friction coefficient changes over time. Additionally, mechanical tests were performed to analyze the performance of the coatings.

Kutatásunkban kis hőmérsékletű plazmanitridálást és PVD bevonatolást alkalmaztunk ötvözettlen és kis ötvözőtartalmú acélokon. A vizsgált anyagok a C45 szénacél és a 42CrMo4 nemesíthető acélok voltak. A próbatesteket először plazmanitridáltuk, majd kétféle keramikus PVD bevonat rendszerrel láttuk el. A tribológiai vizsgálatokat Pin-on-Disc tribométerrel végeztük, kiértékelve a kopásállóságot és a súrlódási együtthatót. Emellett mechanikai teszteket is alkalmaztunk a bevonatok teljesítményének elemzésére.
