Abstract

Electrical equipment e.g. smartphones, notebooks represent one of the fastest growing waste (WEEE) stream. These electrical devices contain a lot of rare earth elements, platinum group metals, precious metals and other valuable metals. Critical raw materials can be recovered from electronic waste and recycled into the manufacturing process, thus significantly reducing dependence on primary sources, but the mining of these remain strategic importance
