How old is the millennial limit?

Abstract

I read somewhere that the thousand-year border is located 50 km from Csíkszereda, at the end of the Gyimesbükk settlement, and this is one of the easternmost points of historical Hungary. Here we find the boundary stones of the former border of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy and the former easternmost railway guardhouse of the Monarchy.
 The statement is incorrect in several points of views. The limit cannot be a point. Gyimesbükk is not the easternmost point of historical Hungary. And the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy is not a thousand years old, and neither is Romania.
For years, I have been interested in the idea of ​​crossing this former national border, as I thought it could be interesting even from a geodesy point of view. A few months ago, I got the description of the border line between Hungary and Romania and the maps corresponding to the description, which was published in 1900 in a printing house in Bucharest. This marked the beginning of the historically, geographically, but also in terms of geodesy interesting project which means traveling about thousand kilometers.

Olvasom valahol, hogy az ezeréves határ Csíkszeredától 50 km-re, Gyimesbükk település végében található és ez a történelmi Magyarország egyik legkeletibb pontja. Itt találjuk az Osztrák–Magyar Monarchia egykori határának a határköveit valamint a Monarchia egykori legkeletibb vasúti őrházát.
Az állítás több szempontból is helytelen. A határ nem lehet egy pont. Nem Gyimesbükk a történelmi Magyarország legkeletibb pontja. És az Osztrák–Magyar Monarchia nem ezeréves, úgy ahogy Románia sem.
 Évek óta foglalkoztat ez egykori országhatár bejárásának a gondolata, hiszen úgy gondoltam hogy az akár geodézia szempontból is érdekes lehet. Néhány hónapja kezembe került Magyarország és Románia határvonalának leírása, amely 1900-ban látott napvilágot egy bukaresti nyomdában. Ezzel az a történelmi, földrajzi, de geodéziai szempontból is érdekes projekt kezdetét vehette, amely mintegy ezer kilométer bejárását jelenti.
