The author studied the world’s energy consumption and studied the current and expected role of natural gas by considering the influencing factors. It examined the temperature dependence of natural gas consumption, as well as the history of the natural gas transmission systems of Hungary, Austria and Italy and the past years’ changes in gas consumption, taking into account the temperature dependence.
