Abstract

The Eocene/Oligocene cooling event had impacted the global ocean and consequently the marine biota, although we assume that its effect was dependent on regional paleoceanography. Therefore, we investigated benthic foraminiferal assemblages recovered from the late Eocene Brebi Formation, Transylvanian Basin to reconstruct the shallow-marine paleoenvironment Our results show that the late Eocene shallow-water environment of the Transylvanian Basin was relatively stable.
