The soil resources of the Várvölgy creek catchmant area

Abstract

The area of the Várvölgy creek, Eastern Mecsek consists of three major rock types/parent material for soil formation: 1. Cretaceous basalts, 2. Jurassic sandstones and conglomerates and 3. Jurassic limestones with marls. These parent materials have significant impact on the soil formation and properties of the region. The dominant soils are Luvisols, but there is a great variability among the soil types according to the soil parent materials.
