Why is there no chimney on our Parliament Building?

Abstract

The Houses of Parliament is unquestionably the most beautiful building in Hungary. Designed by Imre Steindl, who thought the beautiful neo -gothic eclectic building should not be mocked by ugly chimneys. This is how our Parliament became the first district heating building in Europe. In the first part of the lecture, I will introduce the characteristics of the building. Then I will prove with photos from different parts of the world that chimneys are not necessarily ugly. Finally, I deal with the operation of the building through the "Plaque" system of the Hungarian Museum of Building Engineering.
