In the field of structural engineering accurate consideration of local buckling and determination of the effective cross-section properties are essential for economical and precise design. Previous research results showed the necessary safety level of the Eurocode is not reached in some cases, especially for high strength steel box-sections subjected by pure compression. The purpose of the present study is to examine the accuracy of the Winter-curve based formula of the EN 1993-1-5 for high strength steel I-sections.

Építőmérnöki szerkezetek tervezése során a lokális horpadási jelenség pontos figyelembevétele és az effektív keresztmetszeti jellemzők meghatározása kiemelt fontosságú a gazdaságos és kellő pontosságú méretezéshez. Korábbi szakirodalmi vizsgálatok szerint az EN 1993-1-5 szabványban szereplő számítási módszer az effektív szélesség meghatározására nem kellően pontos nagyszilárdságú acélokból készült nyomott zárt szelvényekre vonatkozóan. Jelen tanulmány célja annak vizsgálata, hogy I-szelvények esetén a Winter-görbén alapuló szabványos eljárás milyen mértékben és milyen esetekben tekinthető kellően pontosnak.
