Ferenc Pfaff’s most important railway station buildings

Abstract

Ferenc Pfaff, who was born in Baranya, as the chief architect of MÁV (Hungarian State Railways), designed the most important and most beautiful railway station buildings, with the exception of Budapest's central railway stations. We have information on about 30 such station buildings, most of which are still standing today in a renovated state. A small part of the buildings was damaged in the Second World War, so it was partially or completely demolished. Some of them fell victim to the railway developments of the 1970s. The presentation commemorates the buildings that no longer exist with many rare and beautiful photographs, and presents the ones that still exist.

A baranyai születésű Pfaff Ferenc a MÁV főépítészeként – a budapesti központi pályaudvarok kivételével – a legjelentősebb és legszebb felvételi épületeket tervezte. Mintegy 30 ilyen állomásépületről van információnk, melyek nagy része jelenleg felújított állapotban ma is áll. Néhány a II. világháborúban megsérült, ezért részben vagy egészben elbontották. Némelyikük a 1970-es évek vasútfejlesztéseinek áldozata lett. Az előadás sok ritka és szép fényképpel állít emléket a már nem létező épületeknek, illetve bemutatja a még létezőket.
