Structural analysis of the renovation of the Neue Nationalgalerie

Abstract

Sir David Chipperfield won the 2023 Pritzker Prize and in the jury's citation, they mentioned the renovation of the Neue National Galerie in Berlin as one of the most prominent and recent elements of his career. The renovation focused on the building, designed by Mies van der Rohe and now considered a modern architectural monument, where conventional practices for historical buildings could not be exclusively applied. The article presents the differences between the original and renovated building from the perspective of structural designers, highlighting the details and reflecting on the architectural concept and key design decisions.

Sir David Chipperfield nyerte a 2023-as Pritzker díjat, melynek a zsűri által írt laudációjában az életmű egyik leghangsúlyosabb és egyben legfrissebb elemeként a berlini Neue National Galerie épületének felújítását említik. [1]A felújítás tárgya Mies van der Rohe mára modern műemlékké érett épülete, mely esetében a történeti épületeknél megszokott gyakorlatok nem értelmezhetőek kizárólagosan. A cikk az eredeti és a felújított épület közötti különbségeket mutatja be konstruktőr tervezők szemszögéből a részletképzéseken keresztül, az építészeti koncepció és a főbb tervezői döntések tükrében.
